FICA is law, not an operator preference. Every licensed South African bookmaker must verify who you are before it releases money to you. No licensed site can skip it, and any site offering to is telling you it is not licensed here.
Most people meet FICA at the worst possible moment: they have won something and want it out. Sending the right documents the day you open the account turns a three-day argument into a non-event.
What they actually need
Three things, in every case. Proof of who you are, proof of where you live, and proof that the account you are withdrawing to belongs to you.
- Identity. South African ID card or the ID book page with your photo, or a passport. The whole document in frame, corners visible, not cropped.
- Address. A utility bill, municipal statement, bank statement or lease, usually dated within the last three months, showing your name and the address you gave at signup.
- Banking. A bank statement or confirmation letter showing your name, account number and bank. This is why withdrawing to someone else's account never works.
Why verification gets rejected
Rejections are almost always mechanical rather than suspicious, and the operator rarely explains which one it was.
- The name on the document does not match the name on the account, usually a missing middle name or a maiden surname.
- The address document is older than three months, or is a phone bill where the operator only accepts utilities.
- The photograph is cropped, glared out, or taken at an angle that hides a corner.
- The bank account named is not in the account holder's name.
- The address on the document does not match the address entered at signup, including flat and unit numbers.

These are published operator figures, not times we have measured, and every one of them begins only once verification has passed. We have not yet timed FICA approval itself at any operator. When we have, that column goes in here.
When it is stuck
Escalate in this order. Live chat first, because the agent can usually see the exact rejection reason that the email template hides. Then the operator's compliance address in writing, quoting your account number and the date you submitted. If that fails, the National Gambling Board and the provincial regulator that issued the operator's licence both take player complaints, and a licensed operator will respond to a regulator far faster than to you.
One thing worth being clear about
Searches for withdrawing without FICA, or bypassing it, turn up a lot of promises. FICA exists to stop money laundering, and getting around it is not a loophole, it is an offence. A licensed operator that let you do it would lose its licence. This site does not carry routes around verification and would not be useful if it did.
